Mehmet Kutlu was born in Mersin in 1959. After graduating from Çukurova University, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1982, he was introduced to ceramics in 1990 while continuing his business life. In 1994, he entered Mimar Sinan University, Department of Ceramics and graduated in 1998 as the valedictorian of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The artist, who has received many awards, has been continuing his works in his studio in Istanbul for 11 years. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad.
In his works, he uses various ceramic clays, glass, screen printing techniques, production errors, contrasts and childhood together with porcelain.
"Production errors, contrasts, the language of my childhood and discipline guide my work. To reach contemporary and original results from the infinite alternatives of form, texture and colours offered by ceramics requires a disciplined work. Inspiration in art is nothing but the high concentration that can come with such a work."
